Comparison of touch screen G+G and G+F+F structures

The structure of the touch screen is generally composed of the following parts:

Cover lens: the shell of the touch screen, usually as a protective layer to prevent damage to the internal sensors, the material is usually glass, PMMA, composite PMMA+PC.

Sensor film: This is the core part of the touch screen, used to sense the finger or pen input. When the finger or pen touch the screen, the sensor film will change, and this change will be converted into an electrical signal, the material is usually glass or film.

Control Chip: Converts the touch position into digital coordinates, which are then transmitted back to the CPU for processing. This is the interface between the touch screen and the computer or other electronic devices.

Comparison of touch screen structure (glass cover):

Glass Cover + Glass Sensor (G+G structure)

Structural features: The first layer is the surface tempered glass, as a cover, which serves to protect the screen and optimize the surface texture; the second layer is the Sensor made of glass, which is responsible for transmitting the touch signal.

Performance advantages: hard and wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, high light transmittance, smooth control feel, good reliability. As the surface cover is tempered glass, its surface is very hard, and the hardness can reach more than 6H, which is excellent for the prevention of scratches.

Glass cover + double-layer film Sensor (G+F+F structure)

Structural features: The first layer is tempered glass on the surface, which serves as a cover; the second layer is a Sensor made of FILM film, which realizes the touch function; the third layer is also a FILM film, which is used to enhance the multi-touch function.

Performance characteristics: It can realize multi-touch and the screen is thinner. However, compared with the G+G structure, its abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and light transmittance may be slightly inferior.

Cost comparison of the two structures:

G+G structure: Due to the use of two layers of glass material, its manufacturing cost is relatively high. However, considering its excellent abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and high light transmittance, its maintenance cost is low under long-term use.

G+F+F structure: Sensor made of thin-film material is used, and the manufacturing cost is relatively low. However, it may require more maintenance or replacement cost under long-term use because its wear resistance, corrosion resistance and light transmittance may not be as good as G+G structure.

The two main structures for touchscreens, G+G or G+F+F, are each suitable for different applications, depending on application needs, cost considerations, durability requirements, and design aesthetics.

G+G Structure Applicable Occasions

G+G structure touch panels are often used in industrial control, medical products, aviation and other fields due to their excellent abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and high light transmission. These products often have high requirements for user experience and product quality, and the G+G structure can provide a clearer and smoother touch experience.

Example:

Industrial control equipment: In industrial environments, touch panels often need to withstand more physical impact and wear and tear. the G+G structure of touch panels is ideal for industrial control equipment, automation equipment, medical equipment, and other occasions that require long time and stable operation and have high durability requirements due to its ruggedness and durability.

Outdoor applications: In outdoor environments, touch panels may be affected by direct sunlight, rain, dust, etc. Due to its high light transmittance and good weather resistance, G+G structure touch panels are able to maintain high touch sensitivity and clarity, and are therefore suitable for outdoor advertising machines, self-service terminals, and other equipment.

G+F+F structure applicable occasions

The cost of G+F+F structure touch screen is relatively low, so it is often used in low-end smartphones, tablet PCs, e-book readers and other electronic products. These products usually have certain requirements on cost, but still need to provide a good touch experience.

Thin and light design: The G+F+F structure of the touch screen can achieve a thinner screen thickness, which is very important for the pursuit of thin and light design electronic products. Therefore, it is suitable for ultra-thin laptops, tablets, smartwatches and other products that need to maintain a thin and light appearance.
